Meet the team behind Cash Reader

We are a team of assistive technology enthusiasts based in the Czech Republic. We love that our work touches lives across the globe every day.

Cash Reader was born in 2018. We noticed a gap: no app could recognize the Czech Koruna. So we built something new—offline recognition running directly on your phone. We pioneered training neural networks on massive datasets of banknote photos.

The app worked so well that users from neighboring countries asked for their currencies. One became ten, then fifty. Today, Cash Reader recognizes nearly every banknote in the world, learning from over 10 million photos.

We track central banks and work with communities to add new banknotes instantly. We also empower other assistive devices—like smart glasses, specialized phones, and digital magnifiers—with our reliable recognition technology.

Our ambassadors are the heart of our community. They assist with translations, collect banknotes, and spread the word. They make a true difference by helping blind people in their regions discover Cash Reader.
