Meet the team behind Cash Reader

We are a team of assistive technology enthusiasts from the Czech Republic. We love that our work helps people around the world every day.

Cash Reader started in 2018, when we noticed that no app could recognize the Czech koruna. So we built one ourselves: offline recognition that runs directly on your phone. We pioneered training neural networks on massive datasets of banknote photos.

The app worked so well that users from neighboring countries asked for their currencies. One became ten, then fifty. Today Cash Reader recognizes nearly every banknote in the world, trained on more than 10 million photos.

We follow central banks around the world and work with local communities to add new banknotes as soon as they are issued. Our recognition technology also powers other assistive devices: smart glasses, specialized phones, and digital magnifiers.
